Wnba League Minimum Salary 2023

WNBA Minimum Salary Increases to $62,285 in 2023

Subtle Increase, Still Short of Veteran Minimum

Salaries Max Out at $235,000, Average Salary at $113,295

The Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) has announced a slight increase in its minimum salary for inexperienced players in the new collective bargaining agreement (CBA). Effective in 2023, the minimum salary will increase to $62,285. This represents a modest increase from the previous minimum of $59,800.

While the minimum salary increase is a positive step, it still falls short of the veteran minimum salary of $74,305. This means that inexperienced players will still earn significantly less than their more experienced counterparts. The maximum salary in the WNBA remains at $235,000, while the average league salary is approximately $113,295.

The salary disparity between inexperienced and veteran players in the WNBA reflects the league's relatively short history and limited revenue streams compared to its male counterpart, the NBA. Nonetheless, the recent minimum salary increase is a step towards addressing the issue of player compensation and improving the overall financial security of WNBA players.

As the WNBA continues to grow in popularity and revenue, it is expected that salaries will continue to increase in the future. This will not only benefit players but also help to attract and retain top talent in the league.
