Alexei Navalny's YouTube Channel Blocked in Russia
Roskomnadzor Orders YouTube to Remove Navalny Live
Channel Had Over 300,000 Subscribers
Russia's federal censorship agency, Roskomnadzor, has ordered YouTube to block Alexey Navalny's popular YouTube channel, Navalny Live. The channel had over 300,000 subscribers and was known for its critical coverage of Russian politics and corruption.
The move came after Navalny was sentenced to nine years in prison on fraud charges. Navalny's supporters believe the charges are politically motivated and have called for his release.
The blocking of Navalny Live is the latest in a series of crackdowns on dissent in Russia. In recent years, the government has tightened its control over the internet and has cracked down on independent media outlets.
