Gorman Falls Short of Victory Despite Strong Performance
In a highly anticipated matchup between two undefeated teams, Bishop Gorman High School fell to St. John Bosco High School 35-21 in a battle of the top-ranked prep football teams in the nation.
Gorman, ranked No. 1 in the country by MaxPreps, entered the game with a perfect 12-0 record. St. John Bosco, ranked No. 2, was 11-0.
Competitive Game Throughout
Despite the final score, the game was competitive throughout.
Gorman took an early 7-0 lead on a touchdown run by senior running back Jaydn Ott.
St. John Bosco responded with a touchdown of its own to tie the game at 7-7.
The teams traded touchdowns in the second quarter, and Gorman took a 21-14 lead into halftime.
Second Half Dominated by St. John Bosco
St. John Bosco came out strong in the second half, scoring two touchdowns to take a 28-21 lead.
Gorman had a chance to tie the game in the fourth quarter, but a field goal attempt was blocked.
St. John Bosco added another touchdown late in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.
Strong Performance by Gorman
Despite the loss, Gorman played well and showed why they are considered one of the best teams in the country.
Ott rushed for 125 yards and a touchdown, and quarterback Cade McNamara threw for 225 yards and two touchdowns.
The Gorman defense also played well, holding St. John Bosco to just 35 points.
Disappointing Result for Gorman
The loss is a disappointing result for Gorman, but it does not diminish the team's accomplishments this season.
Gorman won the Nevada state championship and finished the season with a 12-1 record.
The team will look to bounce back next season and make another run at the national championship.
